Both types of countertops are made of “durable” materials, but daily maintenance still requires attention to details to extend their service life and maintain aesthetics
1、 Daily cleaning methods:
Routine cleaning: Wipe with clean water and a soft cloth to remove dust and oil stains, without the need for cleaning agents;
Stubborn stains:
Quartz stone: Use neutral cleaning agents (such as dishwashing detergent and soapy water) to wipe, avoid using strong acids and alkalis (such as toilet cleaner and 84 disinfectant), long-term use will corrode the surface gloss;
Rock slabs: can be directly wiped with 84 disinfectant or white vinegar (short-term contact has no effect), and stubborn stains can be wiped with a scouring pad (not a steel wire ball).
Prohibited to use: steel wire balls, sandpaper (which can scratch the surface), chlorine containing strong oxidants (quartz stone is prone to yellowing after long-term contact).
2、 Daily maintenance precautions:
Quartz stone countertop:
Avoid long-term contact with hot pots (with insulation pads), and anti scald strips can be placed around the stove;
Regular maintenance: Wipe the surface with quartz stone special care agent (polishing agent) every 6 months to restore luster;
Avoid heavy impact: Avoid hitting the edge of the countertop with heavy objects (which can easily crack), especially at the opening position.
Rock slab countertop:
No need to deliberately prevent scalding, but avoid using diamond cutting tools to directly scratch (which may leave scratches);
Edge protection: Avoid sharp object impact (the edge of the rock slab is more fragile than the surface and prone to collapse);
No special maintenance required: The rock slab has no pores and will not absorb stains. It can be maintained in its condition by daily cleaning.
3、 Common problem handling:
Surface yellowing of quartz stone: Wipe with quartz stone anti yellowing agent. If severe yellowing occurs, replace the local countertop;
Edge cracking of rock slab: Minor cracking can be filled with medication (colorless and transparent), while severe cracking requires replacement of the entire countertop;
Water seepage at the joint: Apply anti mold glue again (remove the old glue before applying new glue) to ensure a tight seal.
