Classification of rock slab countertops and adaptation scenarios for each category

The core of rock slab countertop classification revolves around “thickness, processing technology, and usage scenarios”. Different categories have significant differences in strength, purpose, and installation requirements, and need to be accurately matched according to space requirements.
Classified by thickness (most critical classification):
Ultra thin rock board (3mm-6mm): lightweight (about 7-15kg/㎡), suitable for wall decoration, background walls, and lightweight countertops (such as bars and desks), requiring base reinforcement (wooden board, gypsum board), priced at about 1000-1800 yuan/㎡;
Conventional thickness (12mm-15mm): the mainstream choice for home decoration, with balanced strength, suitable for kitchen countertops, bathroom countertops, and dining tables, without additional reinforcement (only requiring cabinet support), priced at about 1500-2500 yuan/square meter;
Thick rock slab (20mm-30mm): With extremely high strength and excellent impact resistance, it is suitable for island platforms and large tooling platforms (shopping mall counters, hotel front desks). Installation requires heavy cabinet support, and the price is about 2500-4000 yuan/square meter.
Classified by processing technology:
Matte rock board: The surface has no luster (glossiness of 20-30 degrees), with a warm texture and good anti fingerprint effect, suitable for modern minimalist and wabi sabi style decoration;
Bright faced rock slab: surface polished treatment (gloss 80-90 degrees), strong transparency, highlighting the texture of the stone, suitable for light luxury and European style;
Soft polished rock board: The glossiness is between matte and glossy (50-60 degrees), balancing texture and fingerprint resistance, and is currently the most popular process.
Classified by usage scenario:
Kitchen specific rock board: added with impact resistant components, chamfered edges (to avoid collision), resistant to oil stains, easy to clean;
Bathroom rock board: upgraded for waterproofing and moisture resistance, surface anti slip treatment (friction coefficient ≥ 0.5), suitable for bathroom countertops and shower area floors;
Tooling rock slab: ultra large specifications (commonly 1200 × 2400mm, 1600 × 3200mm), can be seamlessly spliced, suitable for large spaces.
