Core cognition of quartz stone and rock slab countertop

Quartz stone and rock slab are currently the mainstream countertop materials for home decoration (kitchen, bathroom, bar counter) and workwear (shopping mall counter, hotel countertop), both of which have the core advantages of “durability and beauty”. However, there are essential differences in material sources, processes, and characteristics, and precise differentiation is the basis for selection.
Quartz stone (also known as artificial quartz) is a synthetic stone material made up of 90% -95% natural quartz sand (silica), 5% -10% resin, pigments, curing agents, and other auxiliary materials. It is formed by high-pressure compression and high-temperature curing. Core features: high hardness (Mohs hardness 6-7), scratch resistance, strong stain resistance (resin sealed pores), rich colors (can imitate wood grain, stone grain, solid color), high cost-effectiveness, suitable for most household scenarios, the disadvantage is moderate heat resistance (prone to yellowing and cracking under long-term high temperature).
Rock slab (full name sintered dense rock slab) is a new type of stone made from natural stone by ultra-high pressure (36000 tons) compression and ultra-high temperature (1200 ℃+) sintering. The raw materials are natural feldspar, quartz, clay, etc., without resin additives. Core features: extreme heat resistance (can directly release heat from the pot), extremely high hardness (Mohs hardness level 7-8, second only to diamonds), zero penetration resistance to dirt, antibacterial and environmentally friendly (no resin or formaldehyde), natural color (restores natural stone texture), suitable for high-end home decoration and workwear, but the disadvantages are high price and difficult processing (requires professional equipment).
Both have commonalities: waterproof and moisture-proof, easy to clean, and long service life (up to 15-20 years of normal use), both are suitable as countertop materials; The core differences are concentrated in heat resistance, material composition, price, and processing requirements, which need to be selected based on the usage scenario.
